I'm working on an Elmer's #5 small geared engine. I started the project about 15 years ago and hope to finish it. I had been neglecting my machine shop because of business reasons and also because after my retirement I began repairing clocks which had been a hobby for some 30 years. My problem is finding 5-40x1/2 hex head screws. I was a model railroader for some 40 years and have small hex head screws like 2-56. I think I purchased them from MicroFasteners. I see 2-56 and other small sizes but no 5-40x1/2. I have checked Grainger, McMaster Carr and Small Parts. Lots of metric but no imperial. The web site catalogs can be a bit confusing on line and I may have just overlooked them but I don't think so. Any help is appreciated.

Les, if you can use stainless, microfasteners has 5-40 x 1/2 at $8.70/100 plus shipping.
