Does anyone here read this magazine?

http://www.modelenginebuilder.com/default.htm

At some point in the future I would like to build a simple IC engine after I have a few steam engines under my belt.
Is this magazine worth it for a newbie that knows next to nothing about IC engines or would I be better off spending the money on a good reference book on model IC engines?

Thanks

I ordered three back issues a month or two ago. Very well put together magazine. I haven't built anything form the included plans yet but I was impressed with the included full page prints. Took quite a while to recive them but worth the time and money I think.

Model Engine Builder is great magazine. I have had a subscription for several years.

Of course, it also depends on where your interests lie. From your mention of steam engines and such I would take that your interests in the simpler types much like "farm engines" or similar like the Upshur engines.

If that is the case then Model Engine Builder will suit.

Other references you may find interesting in case you have not already found them. First off is Ron Chernich's model engine news site. A fabulous source of info and inspiration. Make a pot of tea and sit down for a couple of hours good read and that is to just get started.

see here: http://www.modelenginenews.org/

If your interestes lie in somewhat higher performace engines then a book by Malcom Stride AKA Nemett might appeal.

Called Miniature Internal Combustions Engines. Malcom has published many articles in the UK pub Model Engineer on the subject and the book has been well received.

Ron made mention of Malcom's book on his web site here: http://www.modelenginenews.org/ed.2007.04.html

I got some reprints and subscribed to the magazine. I really like it a lot. Certainly in the same category as the Village Press magazines and much higher quality than I was really expecting. It is very engine-focused, but still interesting. You can learn a lot of techniques there.

Cheers,

BW

Sounds like its worth me subscribing.
Will do that tonight then. :)

Thanks Everyone
