I bought a house and a lathe was left in the garage. Any idea what I can realistically get for it? No clue about it’s condition.

From outward appearance, the lathe seems to be in pretty decent shape.

A new Grizzly lathe

Grizzly Industrial G4003-12" x 36" Gear-Head, Cam Lock Spindle, Lathe

, which looks pretty similar, sells for $6,000.00.

I can't tell how large that lathe is, but it could be a 12"x36", and it does have the gear cutting handles, if I am looking at that correctly.

Here is a similar used unit on ebay:

If it is in good working condition it will be worth more than if it is not functioning correctly.

I am not sure about the age of the ebay Grizzly lathe.

I think the important things are if your lathe is functioning correct, and if there are any extra accessories in the cabinets, that would increase the price.

I think there will be some machinist/lathe experts here that will be able to provide more accurate comments than mine.

My guess is that you could definitely be in the $1,500.00 range, but I am not a machinist to the extent that many here are, so check me on that.

This lathe new sells for$5600.00 . The lathe is 40 years old. If it was used lightly and not worn out, $1000.00 as pictured. The lathe looks in good condition. Made in Taiwan helps, if made in china then the price I would pay would be $400.00
