Hello ALL !! My name is Dave....I'm a retired ARMY Helicopter mechanic (26years). I still work in the aviation industry. I'm not a machinists by any means !! Here to learn all I can to make whatever I can come up with !! I now have a new 7x16 mini lathe, a nice drill press, grinder, belt/disc sander, and tons of hand tools. The lathe is just about a month old now and have QCTP for it, really like that, it's a 0XA. I had a Unimat for years and sold it last weekend. I have a basic understanding of the machine and want to get the most out of it. It does need a lot of the mods I have read about here. It has a lot of sloppy parts !! Great to have a place like this to learn from.
Thanx again,
Dave

Welcome Dave!

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with! ;D

Seems like most of us here had a unimat at one stage or another!

Hi Dave,

Welcome (from another newish and not too active yet member). Without giving away any more personal info than you're comfortable with where in central PA? I visit a couple times a year in central PA for a week or so at a time, between Harrisburg and Lewistown off of 322. Always enjoy shop visits if folks are amenable. I try to pay a visit to this guy whenever I'm out there: http://godshallscustommachining.com/ also: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er70VgBk530[/ame] Wayne is in Shermans Dale west of Harrisburg.
