@timbg500 I'm looking at designing and building a rose engine with a geometric chuck. I like the idea of bringing back non-cnc stuff. Could you post pictures of yours?
The first 4 photos show the machine under construction. The next 4 are some of the live tooling I've made. The final 2 are after I rebuilt the machine as it needed to be more rigid. There are still some improvements to be made. No geometric chuck yet.

Very nice! I take it with the chuck and aggressive cam that you are working with wood? I've wondered about rigidity for wood projects. Also would like to make clock dials, but I think wood would be easier to tackle first.
 
Yes, I have made a bunch of mostly round boxes from exotic wood. There are dozens of species suitable and available. It is a lot of fun.
