I'm building a Philip Duclos hit n miss engine. I'm at the point where I need a spark plug and a coil. Can any one tell me where I can get a spark plug with a 1/4 inch 20 thread and a 6 volt coil? Or what I can use instead. Thanks.Ed

Hi Ed,

You might try Roy Sholl as he sells a lot of model engine ignition parts. http://www.cncengines.com/ic.html He has the 1/4-32 plugs and some ignition modules, wire, etc. He is a good fellow to deal with.

You could also contact http://www.morrisonandmarvin.com/ as they have plugs also.

As to the 6V coil, you could use a 12V automotive coil and 12V battery.

Regards,

Chuck

Hi Ed,

In the Netherlands where I live are no spark plugs 1/4 x 20 tpi for sale. Normal plugs are 1/4 x 32 tpi. For cheap Coils we use 2nd hand Coils from a Honda or Yamaha moped. ( Not the electronic ones.) They work great on a 3.6 volt NiCad battery.

Kind regards, Johan.

Auto jumbles are prime locations for 6V coils.... I have a beautiful, brass cased one somewhere that came off an old Villiers engined invalid carriage.
