Don't get me wrong, although very good, a badly set up faceplate can be very dangerous.
In the area where I live, a few years ago, there was a VERY experienced motor cycle tuning machinist, and most of his work was faceplate mounted.
For some reason he got it wrong, and the block that was on the faceplate came off and hit him square in the chest. He was dead before he hit the floor

Absolutely.
Start out at the slower rpm's and don't get careless or too comfortable.

I believe it was Ron that mentioned the table top arrangement for setting up the work on the faceplate. That's a good idea too.
