Hello, I'm new here so hello everyone ;) I would like to know if it's possible to replace the stock cross slide handwheel with a Sherline Zero hand wheel on a Taig lathe and install another Sherline Zero hand wheel on the lead screw?

Thank you.

Jean

I put a Sherline handle on my Taig cross slide. I didn't like the length of the original slide, so I built a 6" one. ImageUploadedByModel Engines1402193306.475052.jpg

BAH101 what are the modifications to install a Sherline handle on your Taig lathe?

Everything above the carriage is new. I used a piece a 1x2x6" aluminum, machined the dovetail in to lower side then used a brass gib for adjustment, pretty much the same as the Taig. But, I installed the lead screw nut into the carriage and them made a new lead screw. It attaches to the cross slide with two 3/4x1/4 pieces of CRS. One on each end. I made a t slot cutter to the same size as the Sherline T slots.
