Hello, my names Lucy,

I have joined this forum in the hope that you are able to help me, I have inherited this beauty from my grandad, I can only remember driving it when I was younger and am hoping you can tell me a bit about it or point me in the right direction.

All I know is that it's called a simplex and it doesn't have a current boiler test.

I have attached a picture, hope it works.

Because I have minimum knowledge of this locomotive, I would like to know my options, like is it worth putting it through the boiler test, how much and what it entails. In the long run I'd have to sell it as I don't have the time, expertise or track any more.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks for reading.

Lucy :

The simplex is a martin Evans design and it was designed in 5" gage.

I would say you options are wide open .

You can certainly learn how to run the engine. there should be more than one club in your are with track and it is a published design so getting boiler cert should not be a problem. And we all have 24 hours in the day it is all how we use them .

IMHO look up a local club and talk to them look for one that has 5" track and is close by . Live steam is popular in the UK should not have a hard time doing whatever you want with that fine engine.
