Hi,
a boring weekend (is whitsuntide right ?) and i need a fixed steady
(turning a taper and a thread on a spindle)
in the WWW found 2 simple DIY steady (or fixed rest) but they don't give a right feeling of "WOOW" to me
so i draw a little bit and start my mill:
my last big rest of cast iron - very "unangled" and everything but not straight
and i need 2 less wide parts - so saw it into 2 parts on the long distance:
(30 minutes on a small bandsaw - handy lead as vertical saw)
milling to get right angled blocks:
and milling the contour:
first test on my lathe:
and ready to use:
at this moment the slide parts were made of bronce - but i've made threads into the arms to fit ball bearings:
and a nice weekend ended with full success:
ER16 and M19x1 on my Perske spindle
after finishing i thought:
how could i work without it all the years ?
thats a really "must have"
Frank
