One question, you say it should be made out of ali. what are your reasons for making it out Ti . ive never worked with it before.

The only reason I am using Ti is that I have it available to me readily. The next couple will be made out of aluminum.

I can't take the tool attrition :eek:

The other reason is learning. I have another project I would like to try and Ti is perfect for it. I just need to address the tooling.

I was successful in making a crankcase (alright, half) today. The vise was tuned up and will only lift about .001 when tightened. Once I snug it I tap the work with a dead blow hammer and finish tighten.

Worked good but I still used one side of an insert per crankcase side. I was able to take d.o.c. of .050 with minimal chatter though :big:

Post pics as soon as I get a new camera unless you guys are OK with the cellphone pics... :-\
