August 24-26, the Bay Area Engine Modelers (BAEM) will host the WEME show inside the Goodguys West Coast Nationals Hot Rod show in Pleasanton, CA.
Last year the Goodguys gave us the use of a very comfortable pavilion on the fairgrounds and we spent 3 days talking to car enthusiasts who instantly became model engine enthusiasts. Of the 100,000+ show attendees who came through the front gates, we hosted in excess of 10,000 of them. Sometimes they'd come back multiple times. Oh, yea, there were in excess of 3,000 high quality hot rods parked on the fairgrounds as well. But WEME was the hit of the hot rod show. Car guys and gals like the small engines so much that at a local hot rod show, the new Black Widow V-8 walked off with the Best Engine trophy!
Exhibitors get free 3 day passes and VIP parking and there is no charge to exhibit.
Vendors get the same deal which is great because Goodguys normally charge a minimum of $600 for a 8 foot booth.
www.wemeshow.com for details on the show (not a completely updated Web site yet), www.baemclub.com if you want information on the club.
We will have 75 models from the Paul Knapp model engine museum, probably (again) the largest collection of V-8s at a show and plenty of premium quality models of all stripes. Engines, boats and locomotives will all be on display.
