Welcome to the forum Jason.
There's a Welcome thread here. Tell us a little about yourself and what you're interested in building. ;D

I'm Chuck, from E. Tennessee. I have a 7x14 lathe and this weekend will pick up an X2 mill in PA on my way to NY for Family Christmas. I have not yet built an engine, other than a plastic see through V8 as a youngster. I hope to build a ffew soon as a milling learning exercise.
I recognise many names here as members of other boards. Great folks. Looking forward to improving my mill and learning.

Welcome to the forum Chuck.

(I've always wanted to build one of those see-through V-8s. Only managed the Visible Man.)

Ah yeah, they've sure simplified that thing over the years. It used to have an electric starter motor, and working distributor firing little 'grain-of-wheat' bulbs in each cylinder.

Hi all,

Pete here from California. Have been doing machining since I was 12 (am 53 now). I'm currently involved in an interesting project of a scale engine that someone else is building so have no immediate plans to build anything myself, but it all interests me.

I'm in the wire edm business now (probably more accurate to call it my passion, not my business... seeing what the current state of the economy is), though I have a fairly complete shop -- lathes, mills, gear cutting equipment, hone, saws, etc. etc.

I've posted a few photos and more of what I do in the "Specialist" section here.

Thanks for having this Forum!

Pete,

Hello all,

Newbie member here, I'm really just starting to re learn machining skills that I learned during my apprenticeship. I have the Chester model B and I'm keen to get on and do something useful with it. My main hobbies are model boats and aircraft, I'm also interested in old motorbikes, having recently restored two old Garellis.
My brother is a bit of a whizz with a lathe so I'll be getting some tuition there. I've had a quick look at some of the posts on here, fantastic stuff. I particularly like the marine engines.
For a living I'm an airframes/propulsion technician.
Looking forward to chatting and learning from you fellers. Great forum.

Rockets.
