Stainless Steel 15-5 , is this like 303 or 304 stainless? Is it easy to machine ? I was given a 1 1/4" round bar and wanted to know how it would machine.
Thanks again

15-5 is a precipitation-hardening stainless steel alloy. It's machinability will depend on its state of heat treatment. I think annealed machines nasty because it is so ductile and gummy, solution-treated is better and cutslike 304, while aged is not so bad if you go slowly consistent with the hardness.

Thank you... I'll have to see how it goes.
