Hello all.
I need some help or hint from you guys on selecting a CNC small lathe (bench top).
After an exhustive search on the internet I found two types of CNC lathe.
- One is a conventional lathe with step motors and ball screws installed on axis X and Z and a ATC Automatic Tool Change (conventional 4 tool position).

The other option is the one alled SLANT BED type which has a angled sliding bed with a TURRET with 8 position tool.

I found these two models from SIEG model KC4S (conventional type) and IKC4 (slant bed type). Please see the link bellow for each one.

KC4S - http://www.siegind.com/products_detail/&productId=3588b77a-6076-4f6e-a35c-1f7b04614202.html

IKC4 - http://www.siegind.com/products_detail/&productId=533824ec-97c6-4efe-90a4-4fd084bc62c4.html

Where do I need help/advise/hint? :confused::confused:scratch.gif
-What is the advantage/disadantage of one over the other?
-Also SIEG offers two types of control, MACH and SIEG. Any of you had experience with SIEG control? Is it better than MACH?

For sure some of you will point out that the price for the IKC4 is higher then the KC4S, but lets assume that's not the point now for the matter of what are the advantages one over the other.

Thank you in advance. I count on you all to help me with this dilema.

As far as I can tell, the tool mounting system seems to be the major difference. With the slant turret, the tools can be changed by computer command. It's possible to mount 4 turning/facing tools and 4 drilling/boring tools. The other has a 4-tool toolpost where you would need to rotate it manually for tool changing. Boring/drilling would require fabrication of tool holders.
