Hi,
I finished Stewart Harts (Potty Engineering) design of the Simpson & Shipton steam engine.
It was built from all bar stock, except the flywheel. I bought a flywheel casting from Martin Models.
The piston, I wanted to try a carbon rod. Wasn't sure if that would work, but so far I've had it running on my counter for a few hours and it seems to be working.
The base is made out of wood. I machined 1/8" grove for the grout lines and then painted, then sprayed a few coats of polyurethane to seal it.
The video is on Rumble, and I tried to take a few nice pictures. Thanks

That is beautiful. It is attractive just sitting there, but it runs very well, especially at low speed (which is what I like).

The blue paint is very nice. An unexpected color for a model of an older engine, but on this one it just looks right.

Thank You for posting.
