Ring Roller help

I am planning another project that requires me to make some curved tubing. I am thinking of making a ring type of roller to accomplish this. I have a decent design in my head, however I do need a little help. On the rollers themselves, I guess they will need a groove so as not to squish the tube. What is the best way to cut the groove? I recall seeing one method here... but can't seem to find it.

So you guys that have built your own benders... how did you do it?
