I have been making this engine for a while and I have just spotted a difference between the drawings and the construction notes. I have the cylinder head turned to size and the fin's cut. In the construction notes the material for the head is HE30 but in the material list it calls for HE15
I have made mine from HE30
Has anyone built this engine and if so, what material did you use for the head.

HE30 is aluminium alloy 6082, while HE15 is aluminium alloy 2014, both, according to a google search, are high strength alloys. Either seems suitable, I hope other members can shed more light on it.

Paul.

When it was written up in Model Engineer he specified HE30 and he has also used that on the Bobcat so you should be fine with what you have.

Thanks Paul and Jason

I was hoping that was the case. Waiting for warmer weather and then I hope to be able to get on with the build. My wooden shed is too cold at the moment
