Hi all,

I have an O gauge loco boiler here with an incomplete steam valve, the needle is also bent and may not be original. Valve looks to be 1/4" and needle is 5/32" x 40.

I have a lathe and and will get tap/die if necessary.

What I need to know is how to seal needle. I "guess" some sort of union nut/o-ring seals needle?

Any help/advice much appreciated.

TIA

Dave

There should be a nut that fits the outside thread and drilled to clear the spindle, this nut will compress a stuffing gland to seal the spindle.

You can use graphite yarn or an o ring as gland packing.
