I have an lpg torch, but the biggest heating tip I have is 1/2".
I'm pretty sure this is going to be too small to silver solder the ends into my 2 3/4" boiler tube, just over 1/16th wall thickness. Can anyone shed some light on the required size tip?
I did find a reference to Sievert tips, but this doesn't tell me how well a certain size works in relation to the work we do with it.
Thanks,guys(and/or gals :big:).

Check out the latest HSM. Nice aritcle on LPG torches

I would use a tip of at least 1" for a tube that size on a 20# tank. Plenty of BTU's is what you need....keep the OxA on the rack for silver soldering....too hot.

On Edit and a check of my sources, it was Machinist Workshop and the torch that gives Sievert a run for its money is the Goss.

He recommends the KP-105 kit with the BP-6 and BP-2 nozzles.

You can get them from Mcmaster Carr.

I have been using the large Turbo Torch mentioned in the article ...guess what's on my Christmas list! ;D
