Hi everyone
I purchased a large crucible at a foundry auction a while ago but don't know what size it is. I have always wanted to melt iron in it to see if it was any good.
It worked really well and melted 26.5 kgs of iron and used 14.09 kg (16.65 liters) of waste oil. It took about 100 minutes from cold.
My normal crucible is a A12 and holds 14 kgs of iron, so it uses 8 kgs ( 9.5 liters) of waste oil. It takes about 50 minutes from cold.
Have a look at the video. [ame]http://youtu.be/lPy0B_5ltBM[/ame]
