Me and my little brother Austin both love miniatures... I have been looking at a tiny lathe that would be so cool just to set on the book shelf and look at, maybe make a couple micro parts on it every once in a while in the cabinet. This thing is tiny. Not sure of the exact dimemsions but I have read that it has a 2'' swing over the bed. The lathe I am talking about is the Manson lathe.
I found some cool information on it, ill have to read it tomorrow.
Here is what I have found

The manson lathes are quite 'cute'. It is a copy (just in looks) of the Monarch 10EE. I think that I would buy a larger lathe that you could actually buils something on. There are some casting kits out there that can be made into a small "shelf' lathe. The Manson is a great lathe as conversation pieces go. If you still want one go to Ebay and do a search. They have been showing up lately.

Take a look at the taig and sherline.

I chose an import 7x for my first lathe as I felt it had more real lathe features.
Lots of options take your time do your research.
