Good day everyone.
I have some I.C. engine ideas percolating in the old noggin, and I need a little input. If you have a 5/8 to 1 inch piston, how thick does the cylinder liner need to be?

How much clearance around the liner for water flow do you need?

thanks for now, I'm sure I'll have more questions later.

Dry liners or wet liners?

I built a 2 stroke that used a 1/6 wall thickness with sliding fit into an aluminum cylinder, I would think you might want to go to 3/32 for a wet liner that diameter.

I don't know that there is a direct answer to the first part of your question. I always try to build with at least .062 wall thickness but more like .078. As far a spacing for water circulation, the more the better. These little engines get quite hot so the more water you can get around them the longer you can run them.
