You should call Bearing Distributors. They have four branches in New York. Your profiles defines you in western New York. They will place your order and send you the gears you need. I use them alot. We are lucky in the Cleveland Ohio area. Bearings Distributors and Applied Industrial have their corporate headquarters here.

In my experience from the industrial side Boston Gear is one of the more difficult vendors to deal with, hard to get info from and they don't seem to care about small orders. I prefer Stock Drive Products http://www.sdp-si.com/ and Small Parts http://www.smallparts.com/ but I haven't dealt with them as a hobbyist. As mentioned above McMaster-Carr http://www.mcmaster.com/ should also have what you want.

Good luck

Ken,

Checked those sourses out before I posted here. None of them seem to carry the size I need. Of course that doesn't mean they don't have them. Thanks.

Ok, as promised a picture of the "Donkey"

steamdonkey.jpg

This was an engine used to pull dead donkeys out of the woods after they were worked to death pulling logs.

And if you believe that, then I would like to sell you a bridge to go fishing from in the Sahara Desert. :big: :big:

Actually the reason they were called Donkey engines is that they used this type of steam engine to pull logs out of the woods. For more info than I care to type tonight :D go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_donkey

This is a future project. I hope to still be alive to do it. ;D The four truck Shay that will pull the flatcar this will be mounted on still needs to be built. So it will be a while. Have to many other projects in the way right now. "Yes dear, I will finish your pantry first." :big: :big:

Thanks to all that have given helpful info so far.

Regards,
bernd
