Lots of evenings in the shop and good progress on the Hacker 1/6th scale I'm building for my 30cc Seal Major. 200+ Planks o_O , most off them needed steam. Happy that's done and now its off the build jig. Starting on the topside.

I made a bushing for the lathe spindle to use with a No 3 Morse taper, for turning between centres and other uses. I was surprised how much metal the taper reamers removed, which is why it's a little too deep. I realised that I could use an ER32 collet adapter but when I stuck that in there was a lot more runout than I'd expected. The collet runs about a tenth of a millimetre off centre so I need to investigate if the collet holder bore is off or the 20mm collet itself. The new bushing is bang on concentric, as it was machined in-situ it sort of has to be. I can try to sort out the bore if that's off but I might have to buy some more expensive collets if that's OK. I'd be surprised if the collets are off by so much, it can't be difficult to set the grinder up correctly, can it?

Well reading all the food and med problems I’m feeling sort of good . I have a list of foods I can a can not eat . Most of the can not eats I don’t like anyway . I like a few select greens but I can only have a narrow selection due to blood thinner reaction. Fortunately dairy stuff like milk and ice cream are on the good list. Choc milk is good and I like it . Mostly I eat small amounts of the ok stuff and I’m happy . I’m not eve supposed to go into the shop let alone do any thing since I don’t see well don’t hear well and have to use a cane to hobble around . Falling down is not allowed at all s I simply can’t get up without support . I’m 82 tomorrow . Thankful to have made it this far . Currently attempting to learn fusion 360 since my solid works went away . I have the 2024 book. It’s typical lots of words. I just got to actual molding . Plan to model things maybe with help from son we can do 3D resin printing . There are several metal printing co near by so we may be able to print what we can’t make in the shop . We build and fly giant scale war bir Rc airplanes . Electrics are in gas is out

Surprisingly, no airbags deployed. I am mostly unscathed, except for a deep bruise on my left ankle, and a badly sprained right ankle. I went to urgent care last night for x-rays, and nothing broken, so I took the day off to keep off my feet.

That piece of metal hanging off the back bumper is the fender from the trailer.

I made an internal gear yesterday, and today I uploaded a bad half picture of it :)
Grey ratchet wheel out of old printer. Brass part the practice piece.

Went shopping today. Saw this brand! Mitctcyc.... what???
The package is a blunt copy of the real thing, On this photo (from Internet) it even says "Made in Taiwan" (probably 2nd false advertising)
Next time I visit the tool shop I will check if theirs is also labeled made in Taiwan, but the sales person assured that it is made in China.

p.s. I did not buy one, just found the blunt copy amusing. Sales person had difficulties to pronounce it too.

Obvious attempts to scam unexperienced buyers with a copied package design does not earn trust points.
Often difficult to judge what functions and what not before not evaluated. As you cannot even tell if fakes come from the same origin. (there are fakes of fakes) it is a hit and miss.
I rather get the item from an unknown brand instead.
p.s. customs might keep the package if shipped to EU

What was the price? I find that these obvious trix are usualy very cheap. I also find that they are worth the low price.
 
Just recovering from biggest birthday party of my life. All 17 of the family had dinner together. Yum yum .

Well we attempted-to fly the giant scale P51 but sadly something malfunctioned and it crashed. We spent most of today looking over
pieces . So far nothing stands out. We had made a list of every thing that bolts itbis fastened together and about everything that moves . Even the radio control was checked to make sure there were no other programs that could interfere with operations. We even did a walk around at the flying field just like full scale.

Bottom line not much left to salvage
 
Nice to be able to sit the 30cc Seal major engine in place. Getting a few things worked out in CAD as to the exhaust, fuel tank location, starter battery etc

Yesterday was spent, some of it at least, on making new screws for my Tom Senior mill. I managed to crash it on it's power feed as there aren't any limit switches on it, they're on my desk at the moment.

They're 5/16" BSF and the disc shaped part is 7/8" diameter by a hair under 1/4", to be a fit in a 1/4" slot I presume. Maybe this information could help someone who crashes theirs in the future.
The odd thing is that the first thing that hits at the end of the travel is the end of the gib, which gets pressed in rather too much and bends the adjustment screws enough that they have to be forced back into shape before they'll come out.
Here's a photo, maybe they look like all Tom Senior mill gib screws, I don't have any way of telling.
