I have a 4904 that I need a rest for. The ones I do find cost almost as much as what I gave for the lathe. Has anyone bought one from Grizzly or one of the other mfg. and adapted them? Or does anyone hae one for sale at a reasonable price?

TIA

Randy

HI Randy,

You might want to check out this guy

http://www.tools4cheap.net/

If your up to modifying one, you might want to start there

He sells replacemnt steadies for Logan, Rockwell, and Southbend.

You may be able to find something that just needs a tweak....

Check it out

Dave

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. My 4904 came with a follow rest and partial steady for a 5900 series. I sold them for a pretty good price, but need to find a set for the 4900. I did take some measurements from the parts I had, but haven't drawn anything to fit my lathe yet, as I rarely find the need to use them.
