Its a 5" Gauge 0-6-0 Tank Engine to the Simplex design of Nigel Evans. The engine is about 90% complete it was built by a Guy who due to age and Ill health couldn't complete it.

Work remaining is the:- plumbing, boiler feed pump, injector, lubricator, bunker water tank, breaks, cylinder drain coxs, and some cladding needs doing, plus a general tidy up and a new paint job, as the first thing my boss said when she saw it was :- "I don't like the colour"

Don't you just love em.

:big: :big: :big: :big: :big:

Its got a boiler certificate tested at 200 psi for running at 100 psi

As soon as I've completed the Simpson and Shipton this will be my next job.

I don't like the colour too!

A Belpaire boiler tho? That's not standard Simplex.

A darker and deeper green, and it will look a lot like some of the beautiful old German steam engines I've seen over the years.

So sad that the original builder couldn't finish it and so glad that it found another loving home.

Stew, Check your e-mail for Super Simplex info.

OOPS, Just got a delivery failure on e-mail. Will have to see what went wrong.

I was wondering whether I'd find more on Stews Simplex.

From what I've managed to establish, Super Simplex vs Standard

1/16" larger bore
Longer wheelbase
Deeper frames
Brakes
Larger boiler (but not Belpaire)
3 x super heaters vs 1
Larger grate (but apparently it isn't)
Different coupling rod joint
Lower capacity axle pump (based on hand pump design)
Different connections to cylinders
Different manifold

But as Martin Evans said, its freelance so its up to you

I'm now locked in for the ride.

Pete
