Hi Guys,

I'm sorry if this a very stupid question, what is the purpose of the resistor in the spark plug lead.

I haven't been able to be able to find a good explanation, any help would be greatly appreciated,

thanks,

From Pat

Hi there, I have no idea, I cut mine off and it still works fine.

Hi Pat,

The resistor is there for the same reason that car/motor ignition systems use resistive leads to the spark plug. The resistor greatly reduces radio frequency interference from the spark.

In the very early days of radio transmission transmitters used spark gaps to generate radio waves. Because this was the only transmitting technology of the time, Samuel Morse invented the Morse Code.

Thanks for the answers guys,

Greatly appreciated,

From Pat
