I checked out the links.
Great looking show! It's a bit too far away for me to get to
but hopefully some of our west coast members will try to.

The Western Engine and Model Exhibition, WEME, is slowly slowly gaining in popularity. The host for this event, the Bay Area Engine Modelers, have done an excellent job planning for this event, making arrangements for food services, soliciting vendor participation, shuttle services, invitations, etc. As you know, big task for anyone.

The display of model engines is extraordinary but each year BEAM features a craft on the periphery of model engine building. One year they featured a model tank club. From time to time a formation of tanks, complete with sound, paraded the event floor. Last year, a local model boat club dispayed a few of their model yachts.

This show is an exhibition work performed by hobby machinists. Aside from model engines, there will be displays of home made machines and tools, as well as conversations on machining techniques. Anyone with an interest in metal working will find this event to be refreshing and inspiring.

If you have the opportunity, consider attending. And if possible bring a young person, let him or her see in person what craftsmanship is all about.
