I would like to do a new cylinder e piston for my Pacemarker 59.

I would like to use for cylinder a steel alloy (W. Nr 1.6511, 39NiCrMo3, 39NCD3) and for piston a cast iron meehanite (GS 500/7, SFP 500, 32/7, GGG 50, 65-45-18, 500/7). The engine has a steel and iron lapped cylinder. I would like to do a taper of the liner between 0,015mm and 0.025mm.

What do you think?

Thanks Massimo.

I can't believe there is still this much interest in the Pacemaker 59. This engine was designed and manufactured by my Dad, right after WW2. I still have a display model, and I used to use one, converted to glow, in several RC planes. Nice to see this.

Yes a steel/iron combination should be fine, have a look at this post by Ramon on machining the liner and piston and lapping the two to give the slight taper.

I used a similar method on my Firefly 0.46

Hi JAson,

Thanks for the Firefly post. Plan to redo same engine all over again sometime later this year. I did lack some of the vital skills and experience
and made some unforgivable and fatal mistakes. After building three running engines, should now have the confidence to build new FireFly all over again.

Thanks again. Maestro.
