Welcome! A swash-plate engine is a nice configuration for multi-cylindered compressed air motors. (6 or more parallel cylinders in a circle?). Also using cylinder ported exhausts and timed valves (variable cut-off) for air introduction can improve efficiency of the engine.
And more of a challenge to design for a proper college project. IMHO.
