so here is my little boiler start. walls are about 1/4 inch thick, bungs and ends are silver soldered. body came from an oxygen concentrator machine. those machines that people with copd and other breathing problems use. the local scrap yard got a bunch in, they are full of very thick walled brass pistons and cylinders to do the pumping. I was able to pick it up for less that the cost of scrap brass. they didn't know what was inside those things.
one cool thing I came up with last night was I needed straps to hold it down to the legs, I took a piece of 1/2 inch scrapcopper water pipe and put it in the 20 ton shop press between 2 pieces of steel. it mashed it perfectly flat, then cut the edges and I was left with a thin sheet of copper to make the hold down straps out of.
