I needed a fly cutter with a wide sweep so I built a monster.
It's fitted with a lathe bit on each end. The bit with the slightly smaller radius swing is adjusted so that it cuts 0.005" deeper than the other bit. Thus I get a finish cut right after the roughing cut made by the other bit.
My mill/drill came with a shell mill on an R8 arbor. I removed the arbor and fitted it to the bar of the fly cutter. When I need to use the shell mill, it's a quick job to remove the fly cutter and mount the mill.
No rags or long sleeves around when this monster is in operation!
