I recently bought an Interapid dial indicator from Little Machine Shop.

Can the feeler be rotated independently of the dial measurement? My indicator when it arrived had the feeler pointed at right angles to the main axis of the indicator. It's approximately aligned with the axis of the dial itself.

This is the first time I've ever worked with this type of dial indicator.

Thanks for your time.

Hi,

A picture would help. But if its like the one in the picture below, then yes it can and the adjuster on the side can be used to bias the reading one way or the other.

NOTE: The stylus is not present in this picture.

Yes, grab the feeler and rotate it as needed, the first time you do this you will think your killing the gage but you are not.

It will move through its range and hit the dial stop, but keep pushing and the feeler alone will move, you will need to have a good grip on the body when you do this.

Interapid has no lever for direction, it reads both directions from center.
