Help with German

Hi All
I have got a German Rohm keyless chuck with a drill stuck in it and the chuck has the arrow markings Auf and Zu on it from what i can guess this means open and close in German so will someone please get me out of my misery as i do for the like of me know which way is which .

zu(fallen) = to close

Just goes to show that even an old cranky retired machinist like me needs to ask a question sometime i will have a go at getting the drill out tomorrow.

If you would have typed in "Auf" and clicked on German to English it would have said "on"
