I'm attempting to make some aluminum wheels for a 1/24th scale car. The aluminum stock is about 7/8th diam. I recently bought the pictured 1/4 boring bar. How much of the bar is actually cutting? I'm assuming I need to make small cuts, with my Sherline lathe. Any help with maybe a website showing how to properly use the bar would be appreciated.

it's just a pointed lathe turning tool that contacts the inside, so use the same small point type contact you would on the outside.

Here is some good info from way back when. Sorry I can't treat it like text.

The Tip of the tool alone should contact the surface to be machined; either interior or exterior.
Be especially careful for small Dia bores and OD's that the tip of the tool is on the Center Height.
Bigger Dia's are more forgiving. Small Dia's, not so.
Also address the tip of the tool w/ a Fine Grit India oil stone to assure sharpness if necessary.
Higher RPM and a consistent feed are required.
