Hi folks, just thought I'd make a proper introduction.

I put up a question about engines as I fancy building one (or several) for myself.

I have a small workshop of 4x5m, with a metric lathe of 1980's vintage, and a small vertical milling machine from the 50's. I'm self-taught and still very much learning on both but I've made many parts for my motorbike and other bits for people - never for money, just for enjoyment, or, if you must - beer!.

My late father was heavily into steam railway preservation so I picked up some of the basics from him, though I've never had any interest in steam engines myself.

I'm looking forward to making a simple first engine. I may build something from plans, but my greatest satisfaction will be in making an engine of my own design.

Pete.

Hmmmm .... enjoyment = beer - you'll fit in just fine!

Welcome Pete.
