Hey fellas.

I stumled across this site a while back and thought I might join.
I don't do any of the stuff you guys seem to build here, but I am tinkering around a fair bit with old 2-stroke motors and build my own large-ish radio controlled cars, using above mentioned motors and various bits of scrap.

I just bought one of those C2 mini lathes off eBay (haven't recieved it yet at the time of this post) and I'm sure there will be many questions once I get it, as I've never used one before.

Here's a couple of vids of my creations:

Both of these use angle grinder heads for gear reduction.

This one was pretty short lived but it's getting rebuilt bigger and better at the moment: ;D

I've also got ideas for a third, even bigger machine.

Welcome to HMEM. Very nice and home built to boot rather than ready to run. You gotta watch out for parked cars that like to jump out in front of you when you least expect it. I have an electric and a nitro so know how much fun they can be. I am sure that you will draw lots of attention with your cars.

Cheers :)

Don

Yeah and it was the only car in the whole street too.

I usually get lots of attention from all the dogs in the neighbourhood whenever I take one of my cars for a spin. ;D

Hello from another bloke(teenager, actually) who tinkers with lawnmower and whipper snipper engines. What part of Australia are you from? I'm from Tamworth, NSW. I strongly recommend building an engine from scratch, it's very fulfilling, and gets your skills up. I recently completed my first build, a small "donkey engine". The build is documented here:

Hey there.

I live in Mackay, QLD.
Originally from Sweden but haven't lived there since 1995.

Met an Aussie girl when I was living in London and have lived here in Oz since 2002.
Did the whole camping/fruitpicking thing when we first arrived and have seen quite a bit of the country.
We passed through Tambo not long ago actually on a mini roadtrip to Canberra and back.

As for building my own engine....well....I wouldn't be surprised if that happens one day.
For now though, I'm quite happy reviving old $10 chainsaws.

I'll most definitely check your build thread out a bit later, but now it's beer and then shower time.

;D
