Having got my little oscillator to run on steam, I'm setting my sights on something larger and more complex, a double acting engine with a piston valve. The cylinder and valve chest are once again made from copper pipe. The photos were taken a while ago, and I have done a bit more since.



Facing a piece of brass for the rear cylinder cover



Turning the shoulder where the stuffing box will be



Threading the packing nut with an M6x1mm thread



Some parts made so far. Left to Right, cylinder, valve chest, valve, piston.

I don't know where you got it or if you drew it yourself, but that is the best illustration of the cylinder pressure curve that I have ever seen. Thanks for posting it.!

I have seen that a couple of pictures I posted were quite big, so I just resized them.
