Has anyone here built a cyclone steam separator for a small boiler. Do they work in our sizes, is it possible? I'm sitting here a thousand miles from the workshop planning my next project when I get home. I am thinking of a vertical boiler about 3 inch diameter as a plumber friend of mine is removing some heavy duty copper tube of about this size and says I can have some. I have been wondering about a cyclone separator as the one problem I always get with small engines and boilers is wet steam so I thought if possible to spin the water drops out of it before sending it to a super heater.

You might consider baffles and a dry pipe in the steam drum.

Thanks Jim,

I thought about a dry pipe with baffles to direct the drops of water away from it but that is too easy there has to be a complicated way to do it!

Richard.
