If you are going to invest in a new 3 jaw self centreing I would seriously, and I mean seriously consider purchasing a four jaw self centreing with, if possible a set of soft jaws to go with it.
I bought mine a couple of years ago and haven't regretted it ever.
The only limitation is that it won't hold hex bar but this is offset that it will hold square, and I have found it to be a lot more accurate than my 3 jaw.
The soft jaws (I have them for all my chucks) are fairly inexpensive and lift the precision of large or thin part (flywheels, discs etc.) machining to a new level. If bored correctly, no detectable runout at all. I also use soft jaws on the RT and mill them to size, again getting much better precision.
