Hi everyone,

The Air turbine-alternator has been assembled and given many test runs to see how well it performs. It totally exceeded my expectations!

When I made the smaller turbine it put out 34 watts, so I thought can it put out more watts for the same air pressure? A new set of castings were made using the largest vacuum cleaner impellor I could find and a similar output alternator, the result was 63 watts. The original impellor was 75 mm dia and the larger impellor was 130 mm dia.

Since then I have been reading a book called Cyclopedia of engineering vol 4 about Riedler-Stumpf and terry turbines. This time around I will have to make a turbine wheel and use a high output motorcycle alternator. All I can say is turbines can be addictive! Have a look at the video of it running. Really well made video.

I really want to try casting so I saved a very heavy 1 meter diameter commercial impeller. I intended to cut it up for the aluminum, now you have me thinking :)

Then again, maybe not, probably hurt myself. Better stick to my wobblers.

Nice work.
