hello, i am looking for plans for a radius cutter that can be used on a south bend lathe. I would like this because I am looking for a personal project for class next year and I know from what the second year students in my class have made i will be needing to cut some radiuses in a couple different parts
thanks, mitch

This ball turner may work for you:

I've seen modifications to the above design where a second insert is mounted on the back-side of the post and then you can flip the holder around for a inside radius.

i dont think it will work :( we have a different compound type

Not quite plans, but I just purchased a MLA-13 casting kit to build a combination radius cutter and boring bar from "Metal Lathe".
It will be quite a project for me, as I never worked with cast iron rough castings before. Most of it is lathe work and the instructions/drawings are very nicely done. This was designed for the 9" South Bend Lathe I believe.

The reason that I purchased this casting kit other than its great design, is to get me familiar with working with rough castings. It may pave the way for me to get the courage to build a small model engine from a kit. Of course, I can screw it up and that will set the stage for me making models!
