Howdy folks,

Is there a way to adjust the backlash on the Z-axis of the SX2 mini-mill? It is the HiTorque model from LMS. It seems like mine has a large amount. the x and y tables are real nice, but the z-axis is real bad.

Thanks,
Todd

Adjust possibly? control definitely !
I have an older x-2 from micro mark. The mciro down feed is unpredictable at best. simply mount a Dial indicator on a mag base. that way you can see in increments of .001 of how much the axis moves . typically unlocking and re locking the z axis gives a feed of a few thou. it takes practice but adding a DI makes things much easier.

Thanks Tin. I'll give that a try. I assume you set the dial indicator once you bring the tool down close to the work?

yes the tool needs to be close to the work . within the limits of the di most DIs have a 1" /25mm travel.
