About 10 years ago, designed and built a tapering jig for my minilathe, that takes out the difficulty of backing out the compound slide, to adjust the angle, so as to copy a taper, this jig has all the angle adjustments readily available, so once the angle is set to a pattern, it can be locked in position, without backing out any compound slides.

This jig takes the place of the entire crossslide. So that the tailstock can be used to hold the workpiece, without getting in the way of the angle cutting, as it would using the conventional method on the minilathe.

All of the travel of the tool post is contained on the jig, so no carriage travel is involved, it can do tapers up to around 4" in length.

I use this jig to make all my morse taper tooling.

This video is about making from scratch and endmill holder, to hold my small 1/8th" endmills, it needs a 2MT long taper to fit in my milling machine, I designed and built awhile back a tapering jig, that takes the place of my cross slide on my lathe, I use that jig to machine this long taper, and demonstrate its ease of lining up to a pattern and the unique way it cuts tapers unlike any other kind of tapering attachment.
