Soft Iron Binding Wire

My first attempt at this so I hope I am on the right track!

Getting well on with my first project - a v small oscillating engine and now need to purchase a small ammount of soft iron binding wire. I can find it by the ton!! but nothing in small quantities. Also could anybody recomend a source of 20/22g copper tube? I say copper because that is what is recomended and I am not certain weather I could use brass, gun metal, etc.

Could anyone help please.

The specified tube is 2½inch 20 or 22 gauge copper
