Site suggestions...

Had a few ideas cross my mind for suggestions for this site...

1. Engine of the month. It would be nice to showcase some of the members work by member vote. Engine of the month might be too much of PITA to do, but we could do Engine of the Quarter?

2. Book and video reviews? How about a forum for book and video reviews? For instance, I am waiting on "Two Shop Masters"... I will write a review when it comes in.

Any thoughts?

Great Suggestions Eric!

The amazing efforts of our members deserve to be recognized.
We can do that easily on a monthly basis.

The book review is also an interesting idea.
I've bought a few myself that would offer their best service nailed to
the outhouse wall next to the JC Penny catalog.
(LOL Now that's showing my age, Eh?)

Can't take all the credit on Engine of the Month. I saw it scroll by on the Shout Box on Powder Kegs 'shout'. I see so many 'xx of the month' on several of the boards I am on (mostly motorcycle boards). So +1 to Powder Keg as well

Maybe this would be a good time to plug our gallery again.

The last plug resulted in a few more entries.

Show us what you are made of, show us what you have made.

Good idea about the model being displayed, but rather than members choice, how about a random choice, from a folder in our gallery, just to give our beginners a chance to have their basic little engines become world famous. They work just as hard as the more experienced to get their little creations running.

I do like the random choice idea. No one is any more proud of an engine than a successful new builder. I've even got photos in my wallet, right next to my grandkids.

great ideas, they could be used as portal inks to include pictures, video and external links much like Our member map..

It would take a skilled person to do it up real nice but anyone who want to try I can help them.

Much like out member map is just some cut and paste code like this..

It would just be nice to have others who like to code, Im sure we have them but its a matter of if they want to. if thats too much them we could just sticky a great post and rename it it the pictures and video section for the month and keep it simple. (probably best for now)

I like any ideas folks have. I do like a engine of the month and the book reviews, It would be worth making it a site feature above and beyond just a thread.

This time of year its cold so Im not building much in the shop unless they have parts for trade or bring beer and cash. ;D

I even thought of a Member of the month and showcase thier work but then I would like to do it up right and then there would be an archive link in the side bar for them so members could look back and see what was done in months past.

Many things to think about, lets just see what the membership thinks and then we can run with it.

I'm a fan of the engine of the month:O)

I would also like to see a section for Stirlings. I really want to build one of these. I know there are others here who have built them and it would be nice to have all the info in one spot:O)
