Its been a while since I posted anything. Here are some things I've been up to:

I busted my nut on the band saw. HF did not carry replacement and looked like the best thing to do was to repair. Here's what I did.

I called Grizzly but was not sure if the acme threads would match. I looked into buying a new acme screw and nut but it complicated my repair and the prices were horrible.

So i milled down the broken nut and welded on a t-nut. Then I milled all the running sides and the saw is back in business.

I noticed that part of what caused the issue was that HF used a short bolt which stopped at the thinnest part of the cast.

Another note - I preheated the cast iron acme nut and welded using flux wire MIG. It's been a few weeks and it's holding nicely.8)8)8)8)
