Ok to use t-cut for lapping an ali cylinder bore?

I'm building the little machine shop oscillator - I've drilled/reamed the cylinder (in ali - the piston is brass). Later I will also need to lap the outside of the ali cylinder to an upright (also in ali).

Looking in the cupboard my choices seem to be t-cut or toothpaste...
(presumably cutting fluid not suitable?)

Can I use t-cut to lap the inside of an ali cylinder bore ?

I would have though t cut will be a bit harsh. Even metal polish (brasso) may be considered harsh for fine lapping.
