Driven by my curiosity I have developed a multifunction controller with the following features:

Tachometer (resolution 10 rpm)
Count hours (until to 65550 hours)
Notice maintenance expired
Thermometer for motor (resolution 1° Celsius, range 1° - 95° Celsius)
Notice temperature high
Command valve for emulsion (it on when run the spindle)
Auto off after 3 minutes

For my project I have used a microcontroller of the Microchip, the PIC 16F876 that I programmed with the PICBASICPRO compiler of the microEngineering Labs, Inc. The sensor of the rpm is a sensor effect hall, for temperature is a LM35.

I looks like a lot of us have taken a look a few more details would be great.

I have thought of playing with some of the PIC controllers, but have never had quite enough info to make me take the plunge.

I attached you the file zip with the schematic, PCB and file hex for programming the micro. The sensor of the rpm is a ring of alloy aluminum with six magnets the neodimnio 5x5. Sensor of the temperature is a LM35.
For info ask me.

That's really a great idea, and wonderfull building.
Moreover I'd say that the Wabeco D6000 is one of the best lathe around, at this dimension! The one I'm planning to buy too.

For me the Wabeco D6000 is the queen on the lathes for hobby.
